About the Book - Writing Out The Storm

I wrote Writing Out the Storm after I had been teaching writing classes for about five years. During those years I discovered that while I could give my students solid information on how to write with flair, or how to plot a novel, that many of them really needed help simply getting to their computer. It seemed that there are as many reasons NOT to write as there are writers or stars in the deep night sky. Writing is scary business, but there are ways to work past your fears and write anyway. In this book I relate how I overcame years of bad habits and procrastination and how facing our fears transforms us. While I've learned that writing can be transformative, first you must start somewhere, so the book contains many exercises that are so much fun that you'll write despite your lingering doubts or excuses.
