Jessica Morrell has been teaching since 1991
and works as a developmental editor and writing coach. She is the author
of Writing Out the Storm and Between the Lines, Master the
Subtle Elements of Fiction Writing, Voices From the Streets, The
Writer’s I Ching and Bullies, Bastards & Bitches, How to
Write the Bad Guys of Fiction (Writer’s Digest, July 2008) and the
upcoming Dear Bad Writer: A Compassionate Guide for Avoiding

on specific tools, areas, or techniques that need strengthening. Are
your characters flat or your dialogue stilted? Are your sentences
cluttered or uninspired? Do your stories meander or fizzle? There are
techniques here to directly address these issues.
